Services for Distance Students

Who Is Eligible?

Students enrolled in any Newman course at any of our locations are provided the services and assistance of Dugan Library. We strive to offer Newman students away from campus services similar to those provided on campus.

What Services Are Available?

Even though you're not here physically, you have access to everything on the Library's website, including licensed databases, subject guides, online catalogs and more.

How Can I Get Access to the Online Databases?

You will need a Newman Microsoft 365 account to log in to the licensed databases. If you have difficulty logging in, please contact the information technology help desk for assistance at 316-942-4291 ext. 2222 or support@newmanu.edu.

What Special Services Are Available?

NU Librarians will assist in class-related research for those of you who do not have special research resources at your Newman site. You may phone, mail, or email your research questions or problems.

  • You may request periodical articles directly from the NU library by phone, email and/or mail. Articles will be returned by email. If a journal is not owned by NU, that article will be obtained from another library via interlibrary loan.
  • Books are mailed directly to you, you are responsible for return postage costs.

Are There Any Charges For These Services?

The only cost for using print items from the library is the cost of postage to return the item to the library. We will include a mailing label when we ship the item to you to make this easier. You may return items using “Library Rate” or “Media Rate” through the United States Postal Service. This special mail class is typically cheaper than first-class postage.
