Open Access Helper

A guide to setting up and using the Open Access Helper plugin to find articles held by Dugan Library or available for free when searching on the open web.

Setup Settings from Dugan Library

Once you install Open Access Helper, it provides a range of options and tools, most of which are a matter of preference. The main setting to address is connecting to Dugan Library in the institutional settings (which is the first thing that pops up after installing the extension).

Dugan Library Access Settings

Under Institutional Settings:

  • In the search box, with "search by domain" selected, search for This should select Newman University - Dugan Library (855).
  • Select the check box for Enable EZProxy / Open Athens Support. This setting will enable the plugin to attempt to auto-login to publisher sites (this only works in a limited set of cases).
  • Select the check box for Enable Ask Your Library. This setting will give a direct link to Dugan library's Full Text Finder to search for access in the library's collections.
