Basic search tips and strategies for theology students

What is an Exegesis Paper?

An exegesis paper is a detailed analysis and interpretation of a specific biblical text. The term "exegesis" comes from the Greek word exēgēsis, meaning "to lead out of" or "to explain".  The primary goal of an exegetical paper is to gain a deeper understanding of a biblical text, by examining and analyzing its historical, cultural, literary and theological context.

***This is not a comprehensive list of the library's religious materials. However, this will be helpful to start with for exegetical papers, as most will require sources from commentaries, dictionaries and/or literature about the bible's original historical context.
