Knowing how to cite student papers can be particularly useful for citing your own prior student writing. This can be an important part of avoiding self-plagiarism, but in addition to citing your own work, check with your professor before writing a paper that will draw upon previous writing that you have done.
If your work has been formally published, use the citation format for that publication type (journal article, book, etc.). For most student papers, use the APA unpublished works format.
